English language guide to China’s new low-carbon policies and implications  (ACC00924, 2016-2017)

Southwest University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), China and the University of Queensland (UQ) develop an eBook and UQ web portal for an English language reference guide to China’s new low-carbon policies and their implications for the Sino-Australian energy trade and sectors, starting July 2016 for completion June 2017.

China’s new low-carbon policies will have a profound effect on Sino-Australian relations. This project aims to assist the Sino-Australian bilateral relationship adapt to meet China’s new policies and to facilitate a smoother transition to a low carbon future. To achieve these goals, this project will provide an English language guide of China’s new policies via eBook and web portal at the UQ. This will be realised with the collaboration between UQ and SWUFE and will focus on the information that enables better forecasting of changes in China’s (1) renewable energy products prices affecting Australian importers and (2) demand for coal, gas and uranium affecting Australian exporters. The information will also enable the Australian Governments to better target investment to help mining sector employees in their transition to other areas of the economy and Australia to plan alternatives to fossil fuel exports to diversify its exports to China.
